About me

Hi, I’m Tanja Spaans. I help people recover from Burnout. I teach. I blog.

 

I grew up in Germany, Australia and the Netherlands. Currently I live in France.

Before I had a Burnout myself, I owned, along with my former partner, a big Gym in The Hague, Netherlands. Due to long working hours, 90 hours/week, and a lot of management tasks for over 20 years, I got burned out.

After recovering, I turned my profession: became a Life Coach, became a Reiki Master, learned about the basics of Traditional Chinese Medicine.

In 2004 I founded Kazumi, because I want to give people, who are now fighting to survive from a Burnout, the same chance I got.

Kazumi is a Japanese name for a boy or a girl.

Pronunciation:  Ka Zoo Mee

Meaning:  Beautiful Harmony

With my 2 manners-program I will support you to get control over your life again. When you can deal with your situation on your own, my task is finished.

Life Coaching, Energetic Therapy (Reiki, Jin Shin Jyutsu, magnetism), Mindfulness exercises, massages (extern) and working materials.

V.I.P. –weekend

After the intake, on location or by Skype, I always start with this weekend program, including breakfast & lunch and 3 overnight stay at Le Manoir. Depending on the status of your situation, this can be enough to get you back on your feet or we can use this weekend as an Kick-Off for a coaching course.

 

 

3- Months course includes:

  • 1 weekend a month plus 1 extra “come-back-day” for free (6 hours);
  • 3x three overnight stay at Le Manoir (incl.: breakfast and lunch);
  • 1 “urgent”-call of 15 minutes (Phone or skype);
  • 2 recorded audio-trainings;
  • Mindfulness homework between sessions;
  • Bonus: Possibility of recording personal conversations;
  • Quick mail access (reaction within 8 hours).

 

9-months course includes:

Stress is part of life. Under the influence of temporary stress, we can perform very good. However, if stress is prolonged it creates problems.
When working under prolonged stress the symptoms get worse, and if you do not intervene, this leads to Burnout.

If you’re repeatedly and chronically stressed over a long period of time, it puts a lot of pressure on your body, and can lead to a tipping point where your exhaustion prevents you from taking part in activities that used to mean a lot to you. This is burnout. Some of the signs of burnout include:

  • Feeling exhausted and feel unable to perform basic tasks
  • Losing motivation in many aspects of your life, including both work and social
  • Feeling unable to focus or concentrate on tasks
  • Feeling empty or lacking emotion
  • Losing your passion and drive
  • Experiencing conflict in your relationships with co-workers, friends and family
  • Withdrawing emotionally from friends and family

Essentially, when you’ve reached the point of burnout, you can really feel like you’ve had the life sucked out of you. Your ability to care, to make an effort, and to find motivation no longer exists.

What you’ll love about the Pyrénées

The unspoiled and ever changing natural surrounding. The footpaths for rambles and walks: there are nearly 600 footpaths in the region, from very easy to difficult and involving from 1 to 7 hours’ walking.

The Counseling Part

As far as the counseling, I have found that using the trail as “my office” offers an alternative approach to the therapy . Walking in nature is not only awe-inspiring but provides measurable physical but also mental health benefits:

  • A hike can help you gain perspective
  • Hiking can take you out of your comfort zone
  • A hike takes you outdoors (pure and simple)
  • Hiking is a wonderfully oxygenating cardio and strength-building exercise

 

As I bring my professional training with me as a counselor utilizing the same skill set I would use in the office, I find that by getting out of the office and onto the trail, a natural ease takes place, which leads to open conversation, active listening and a soothing environment to resolve ongoing life.

Villeneuve de Rivière is located in the south west of the Haute-Garonne, about 10 kilometers of the Hautes-Pyrenees (now part of the Occitanie region). It is at a distance of 4 kilometers from the capital of canton and sub-prefecture of Haute-Garonne, Saint-Gaudens, and 95 kilometers from Toulouse (651 km from Paris).

It is a very quiet village, where the shepherd with his sheep and goats still walks through the streets on their way to a meadow. Where the churchtower is illuminated at night and where, in the summer months, people play “jeu de boule” in the church square.

Le Manoir

You’ll be staying in a Chambre d’Hôtes of “Le Manoir”, a large bedroom with its own bathroom and toilet adjacent to the practice, overlooking the front garden. Le Manoir was a former nuns house and now completely renovated. The plot covers 6,000 m2 garden, enough space for peace and relaxation
